Terms of sponsorship

Who you are dealing with

Sponsor My Roadster (the "site") is run by BRND Labs Limited (company number 09599940), a company registered in England and Wales, whose registered office is at MB21 More Secure, Houndmills Road, Basingstoke, England, RG21 6YU ("I", "me", "we"; operated by Tom W Brown). You can reach me at hello@sponsormyroadster.com.

These terms apply when you buy a zone sponsorship or an Underbody Crew name spot, or use the site. By paying, you agree to them.

What you are buying

A zone sponsorship is advertising space on my privately owned Tesla Roadster. It includes:

• From when your purchase and logo are approved until delivery: your logo on the 3D model of the car on this site, and a listing on the leaderboard and in the sponsor history, with a link to your website.
• From delivery: your logo on the matching panel of the real car for one year. Delivery is currently expected in 2028. That is an estimate, not a promise (see Delivery).

You are buying advertising. A sponsorship is not an investment, a share of the car, a loan, or a charitable donation. You get no ownership, profit or control of the car.

Underbody Crew name spots

From $5, your name is printed on the underside of the car, alongside everyone else in the Underbody Crew. Name spots are non-refundable, except where the law says otherwise. Names go through the same approval rules as logos.

Underbody Crew entries are for individuals’ names or nicknames only. Every Crew name, and any Crew logo, is checked against the same rules that apply to zone logos (see Logo approval and removal). Commercial names, brands, business names and links may be rejected. If I reject a Crew entry, it is not added to the Underbody Crew and is not refunded, because Crew name spots are non-refundable.

Prices and takeovers

All prices are in US dollars. An unclaimed zone costs its listed starting price. A claimed zone can be taken over while the season’s open by paying the current price plus 10%, rounded up to the nearest whole dollar, as shown at checkout. Prices don’t include VAT. If your billing address is in the UK or the Isle of Man, UK VAT at 20% is added at checkout and shown before you pay. Businesses can add a VAT or tax number at checkout. The total shown at checkout is what you pay, and any refund under these terms is of that total, VAT included.

Seasons

Zones are sold in seasons. Season 1 locks on March 31, 2027. While a season is locked, nobody can take over a zone (unsold zones may still be claimed). Later seasons open as short challenge windows, and there is a final lock before delivery. Whoever holds a zone at the final lock is the sponsor on the real car.

I may change season dates, for example if Tesla’s timing changes. If I do, I’ll post the new dates on the site and email affected sponsors before the change takes effect.

If your zone is taken over

If someone takes over your zone, you get a full, automatic refund of what you paid for it, to the card you paid with. If the card can’t accept the refund, I’ll send it by bank transfer instead. Your listing stays in the public sponsor history.

If the car never happens

Zone sponsors get a full refund if the car never happens, meaning either: (a) Tesla cancels my reservation or the car, or (b) the $250,000 reservation deposit isn’t raised before Tesla invites me to configure the car. Underbody Crew name spots are not refunded in this case.

How the money is used

Money raised may be used to pay the Tesla Roadster reservation deposit and, after that, toward the rest of the car and the Rocket stretch goal. Refunds owed under these terms are paid regardless of how the money was used.

Delivery is not guaranteed

I don’t control Tesla. Tesla hasn’t confirmed a delivery date, final price or specification, and timing can slip. Your year on the real car starts on the day I take delivery, whenever that is. Until then, your sponsorship continues on the site as described above.

Logo approval and removal

I review every logo, name and link before it goes live, and I have final say. I’ll say no to anything on the house rules list, including:

• Hate, harassment, or punching down
• Scams, get-rich-quick schemes, and anything with crypto rug-pull vibes
• Adult content: porn, adult or sex sites, OnlyFans-style / adult creators, escort services, sex toys and other adult products
• Weapons and firearms
• Illegal drugs
• Tobacco and vaping
• Political parties or campaigns
• MLMs (multi-level marketing)
• Logos or trademarks you don’t own, or impersonating someone else
• Bogus health claims
• Anything illegal
• Pretending to be Tesla, SpaceX or Elon, or using their logos and trademarks
• Other car brands trolling
• Anything likely to get me sued or banned from a platform

Gambling and crypto aren’t an automatic no. Those are case by case.

I may reject any logo, name or link for any reason, at my sole discretion.

If I reject your logo and you don’t send an acceptable replacement within 14 days, you get a full refund and the zone is released.

If something that was approved later becomes a problem (for example your site starts hosting something on the list, or a court or platform requires it), or if I remove an approved logo from the real car during its year, I may remove the logo or link. In that case:

• Removed from the real car during its year: you get a pro-rata refund of price × (days left of the year / 365). Example: you paid $1,000 and I remove it after 3 months (about 90 days used, 275 left), you get about $750 back.
• Removed before delivery (only on the 3D render on the site): you get a full refund.

You confirm you own or have permission to use the logo, name and link you send, and that showing them won’t infringe anyone’s rights. You give me a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, print and resize them on the car, the site, and in photos, videos and posts about the project, for the sponsorship and in the project’s history afterward.

Links and search engines

Sponsor links are marked rel="sponsored", as search engines require for paid links. I make no promise about search rankings, traffic or clicks.

How it looks on the car

Logos are applied as wraps or decals sized to fit each panel. Exact placement, size, color, finish and wrap quality may vary, and panels look different in different light and from different angles. Renders on the site are illustrations. Wraps can fade, scratch or get damaged; if that happens I’ll try to get it fixed as soon as I reasonably can, but I can’t promise a fix by any particular time.

Damage and repairs

If a panel is damaged, repaired or replaced, your logo may be missing for a while. I’ll reapply it when reasonably possible. Time off the car for repairs doesn’t extend the year unless I decide it should.

Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, my total liability to you for anything to do with a sponsorship is limited to the amount you paid for it. I’m not liable for indirect losses such as lost profits or business. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t legally be limited, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

Not affiliated with Tesla

This is an independent personal project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Tesla, Inc., Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX) or Elon Musk. Tesla, Roadster and related names are trademarks of Tesla, Inc. and are used only to describe the car.

Changes to these terms

I may update these terms. The version that applies to a purchase is the one live when you paid, unless a change is required by law, or I tell you about it and you don’t ask for a refund within 14 days.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes go to the courts of England and Wales, unless consumer law gives you the right to use your local courts or to keep local mandatory consumer protections.
